About the Donor:
Dr. Warren Diederich (BARCH ’50) and Irene (Gunvaldsen) Diederich (Home Economics ’47) were key leaders of the Alumni Center project. Their vision, enthusiasm, and determination made this facility possible. Along with their unfailing gifts of personal time and energy, they were very generous financially in making this building a reality. Warren served as Chair of the Alumni Center Building Committee, and the beautiful two-story atrium is named in their honor. Warren was responsible for seeking the talents of artist Katie McCleery for the brick bison mural at the entrance. They also “topped off” the building in true NDSU fashion with a Bison Weathervane that proudly oversees the campus. Warren served on the NDSU Development Foundation Board of Trustees, was honored with the Alumni Achievement Award (1985) Foundation Service Award (1990), and was a member of the Old Main Society. Warren and Irene were the founders of Industrial Builders, a respected national construction firm. Warren passed away in 2008 at the age of 84. Irene passed away in 2009 at the age of 84.
